Mohamed graduated from Trinity College in May with a BS in Neuroscience on the Pre-Dental track. At Trinity, he served as a Resident Assistant, Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry, a genetics tutor, and Treasurer of Nu Rho Psi, the National Honor Society for Neuroscience. At Yale School of Medicine, he researched immune response and tumor dynamics in mice. He also currently interns with the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative and plans to attend dental school. We are so fortunate to have Mohamed serving as a Student Support Aide in our 8th grade Algebra class this year.
“I have noticed just how intentional SMPA is in what they require of students. When I was a student, I didn’t understand why we had to give birthday speeches, then I came to realize that SMPA was helping us improve our public speaking- a skill that is mandatory for high school and college. It helps students break out of their shell. I remember my hands and legs shaking when I had to give my birthday speech in 6th grade. Safe to say I don’t shake when I present anymore, and SMPA has definitely played a role in that. SMPA knows it is important to place yourself in situations where you are uncomfortable because those situations are ones in which you grow. “
