Saint Martin de Porres Academy participated All School Reads, a school-wide reading competition to inspire children to read for enjoyment. Students in grades 5-8 and the faculty challenged one another to see who could read the most books over the course of a month. Points were earned for each book read. Bonus points were earned for reading a classic or giving a book talk about your book to the student body at Morning Gathering.The 6th graders won the competition reading xx books.
Additionally,
- 223 books were read over the month;
- students read 180 books;
- staff read 43 books.
The winning team received a pizza party but all students could earn complimentary tickets to a Bridgeport Bluefish game as part of the Bluefish’s Reading Club. The Bridgeport Bluefish Reading Club hosts each school at a special “Reading Club Night” at the ballpark where the students get to participate in on-field parade and are acknowledged with an announcement celebrating about their reading achievements.
