In April, SMPA students attended a performance by the New Haven Symphony Orchestra at Yale’s Woolsey Hall.
The NHSO has collaboratively opened its doors to SMPA students since the school first opened in 2005.
We believe that music teaches values such as self-discipline, dedication, teamwork, self-esteem and the importance of practice and hard work. Accordingly, music is integral to our core curriculum.
The ability to read and play music helps to prepare our students for the transition to high school. Many of our students go on to play in high school bands and in college.
By providing rich history to go along with their masterful performances, New Haven Symphony Orchestra helps to broaden our students’ horizons through music education!
