St. Martin de Porres Academy is raising funds for upgrades to our heating, cooling, mechanical and plumbing systems. The total cost of the project is $3,500,000 BUT, thanks to a VERY generous donor/foundation who is willing to match the funds raised 3:1, we only need to raise $1,000,000 of the funding needed and he will match the rest!

This project will enable St. Martin’s to replace its old steam heating system which unevenly heats the four floors of the building, with energy efficient mini-splits in classrooms throughout the building. The mini-splits will not only allow for individual control over room temperatures, they will also add air conditioning to our 130-year-old school building, a critical feature to make an extended-day, extended-year school an environment more conducive to learning to working for our students and staff.

The project also includes the addition of an elevator to our school. We have a four-floor building. An elevator would make our building accessible to all. It would be a great help toward attracting seasoned teachers, volunteers and special guests to come and share their gifts and talents, allow parents and grandparents access to the Gathering Space where we host our daily Morning Gathering, concerts, plays, workshops and other special activities, and help with student accessibility.
