A Message from the Chair

Dear Friends,

We could not be more proud of the accomplishments of the Saint Martin de Porres community. While our students dream big and work hard – with impressive results! – the SMPA teachers and staff continue to demonstrate a level of dedication that is truly inspiring. The Board has been busy, too, with plans to sustain this very special school.

We are excited to report the completion of a much-needed playing field, new basketball area, improved parking lot and safer entrance to the school building. We have been assured that our school building itself is in good shape, with a 40+ year lifespan ahead. But it will require maintenance and some upgrades. In time, we would love to convert the former Sacred Heart Church into a gymnasium and performance space. These dreams will require funding, and we will approach the work in phases, seeking your help to make these important improvements in support of our program. 

In the meantime, we must continue to raise funds annually to support the Academy. During the past few years, contributions to SMPA have increased, sustaining our programming, strengthening our Graduate Support Program and providing scholarships for the increasing number of our students enrolled in private college preparatory high schools.

Our graduates are thriving in the challenging environments they join for high school and college, contributing both as citizens and as students. It is wonderful to have your support and we are delighted to report on the powerful impact your contributions have had. Thank you! Together we are changing lives and ending the cycle of poverty, one child at a time.
