Education Volunteers
So you're thinking about signing up but you need to know more...
Good - here's what we've got!
One of the wonderful things about being a St. Martin de Porres Academy school volunteer is that you are meeting a real need. The requests come in from teachers, librarians, extended day staff, and you help fill that need. How great is that!
Here are some of things our volunteers do:
Tutor individual student / Small Group Tutors: (daytime and homework club)
- Assist with homework
- Teach a young person to read
- Help a young person with math
- Teach study skills in small groups
Reading aloud: (daytime)
- Read with a young person
- Let a student read to you
Extended Day Program: (4pm to 5pm)
- Share a special talent or skill by teaching a class
- Organize games such dodge ball or flag football
- Play board games with kids
- Supervise playground
Sports Program: (seasonal)
- Supervise or assist with supervising basketball, soccer or baseball
- Build relationships through play
- Teach team building fundamentals
Library:
- Shelve and organize books
- Help students find books
