Bequests:One may choose to make a provision in his or her will for a gift to St. Martin de Porres Academy. A bequest is probably both the simplest and most commonly designated form of planned giving. A bequest sets a specified dollar amount or percentage of one's estate as the gift. Bequests may be in any amount; however, additional options are available for those who would choose to establish a named fund.
State law governs wills, so it is important to retain an attorney. Our suggested language for a bequest to the Academy is: "I bequeath to St. Martin de Porres Academy, established by law in the state of Connecticut, (insert here the amount in dollars or percentage of estate.) (You may add specific language if your gift is restricted to a specific program or service.)"
